Clearing Agents

Clearing your trophies into the USA is a very important step , you will need to select one of the many agents available around the states.

We highly recommend D&L out of Chicago and due to their VERY competitive rates, efficient and hasslefree service even though they may not be geographically close to your chosen taxidermist the savings and efficiency make it worthwhile using them.

Here is how the process works and some of the associated costs.

Step 1
The shipping agent will have been advised of the clients shipping/routing instructions and preferred Customs House Broker (Clearing agent). Prior to the trophies departing Zimbabwe, the CHB will receive copies of all export documents to verify these are satisfactory. Once these have been verified then the agent will be advised of AirwayBill Numbers and flight details and when to expect the shipment.  Due to limited airlines using Zimbabwe as a destination all cargo is currently being routed via Johannesburg. Our transit agent will receive all trophies and ensure the crates are forwarded onto the clients home country in as short a period as possible.

Step 2
The airlines will contact the agent when the shipment arrives and there is a terminal charge at this stage of $45 there will also be a warehouse transfer fee of between $45-$55 or thereabouts.

Step 3
The agent clears the consignment through U.S. Customs, Agriculture and Fish & Wildlife this is charged at around $175.

Step 4
Once cleared a variety of inland carriers are consulted to ensure very competitive pricing , this is done without delay and to ensure that you are not charged any unnecesary warehousing or storage , the shipping of your trophies happens immediately and they are usually shipped directly to your taxidermist of choice.

PAYMENT FOR THIS STEP IS MADE DIRECTLY TO YOUR CLEARING AGENT – PLEASE NOTE THAT QUOTED RATES HAVE BEEN PROVIDED BY D&L AND THESE WILL VARY ACCORDING TO YOUR CHOICE OF AGENT. ZIMBABWE DIP AND PACK BEARS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE QUOTES.

Lisa Jamnik, One of the Directors of D&L is a very efficient lady... here in her own words,

Dear Hunter
We look forward to giving you the most hasslefree importing service in the country
This is based on the following criteria.

1. Close working relationship with Andy Hunter - Our tracking & tracing ability to keep tabs on the hunters shipment
from the time of their hunt
2. Having all documentation sent to us prior to shipping - this not only enables us to stop a shipment if there is
something wrong with the paperwork but we also use this to check the animals and give agriculture a heads up.
We also pre-file the edecs with fish & wildlife as we have all the documents.
3. Exediting the shipment so it gets in and out of Chicago as quickly as possible we shoot for a 48 to 72 hour window.
4. Excellent communication either via email or phone letting the taxidermist and hunters know not only the
status of their shipment but when it is departing Chicago
5. Our prices are competitive with other brokers if not cheaper.

HERE ARE OUR CHARGES
D&L CHB, LLC charges a flat $175.00 to clear the goods through U.S. Customs, Agriculture and Fish & Wildlife.  There is always a terminal charge at the airlines of $45.00 and warehouse transfer fee that usually ranges from $45.00 to $55.00.  We transfer to give to help keep storage costs to a minimum if any as our warehouse gives us 5 free days.  Fish & Wildlife does charge a fee for any cites permit and we do outlay those costs for you. The only other fee would be inland which we have contracts with many carriers and are usually able to get overnight delivery at a competitive price.

Thank you for the opportunity
Hunt safely
Lisa
